On Friday October 20 2006 at 3:48 AM (PDT) the USArray seismic network recorded an earthquake (preliminary Mw 6.5) located near Chincha Alta.

Initial source parameters for this tremor are indicated below. The epicentral distance (i.e. distance separating the epicenter and the closest station in the recording network, Y22C) for the USArray is 6162.888 km (55.366 degrees).
